郑裕彤：从金铺学徒到珠宝巨擘的创业传奇

郑裕彤，广东顺德人，现任香港新世界发展有限公司主席、香港周大福珠宝金行有限公司主席。他的成功故事，不仅是商界的一次辉煌，也是对传统行业深刻理解和创新精神的体现。

早年生活

Zheng Yude, a native of Guangdong Shunde, is currently the chairman of New World Development Company Limited and Hong Kong Jewellery Co., Ltd. His success story not only shines in the business world but also reflects his profound understanding of traditional industries and innovative spirit.

Childhood

Zheng Yude was born into a family of silk merchants. At 15, he left home to seek his fortune in Macau, where he became an apprentice at "Zhou Da Fu," a gold shop owned by Zhou Dafu. With his hard work and intelligence, Zheng quickly gained the respect of his master and became an essential part of the team.

Career

After years of hard work, Zheng was appointed as a partner in "Zhou Da Fu" Gold Shop. He played a crucial role in developing new businesses for the company and soon rose through the ranks to become its manager. In 1946, at just 21 years old, Zheng established "Zhou Da Fu Division" in Hong Kong.

Innovation

Zheng's vision for innovation led him to establish "Zhou Da Fu Jewelry Co., Ltd." - one of the first companies in Hong Kong's jewelry industry. This marked a significant shift away from traditional practices towards modern enterprise management models.

Diamond Industry

Recognizing changing consumer preferences towards diamonds over gold jewelry items among affluent Western women during that time period , Mr.Yu decided to venture into diamond trade .He obtained 'De Beers' license which allowed him to purchase diamonds directly from mines .In this era when most people thought it impossible , Mr.Yu managed to obtain DeBeers license after acquiring South African diamond mine with Debeers license holder status .

By doing so he became largest diamond importer in HK accounting for about 30% share annually .

His entry into diamond trade opened up new avenues for HK jewellery industry by challenging traditional norms & seeking development opportunities .

Legacy

Today at age 76 , looking back on history pages filled with his relentless efforts since young age :6 decades like one day long journey - tells us that every challenge has been conquered & every opportunity seized by Mr.Yu.
