shareholders, who were mostly young and idealistic, faced numerous challenges in managing the coffee shop. They had to navigate through disagreements on the style of the coffee shop, from minimalist to rock-and-roll, and eventually decided on a small-cute aesthetic. However, they encountered another challenge when they found out that their initial investment of 21 million yuan was not enough for the operation costs.
To overcome these challenges, the shareholders formed various working groups, such as a marketing group and an activity group. These groups allowed everyone to contribute their skills and ideas remotely without being physically present at the location. The shareholders also rotated among different roles within each group so that everyone could gain experience in management.
Despite facing difficulties in managing their own affairs,
the shareholders managed to open up "many people's cafe" with an area of over 200 square meters in Beijing's Chaoyang District. The cafe became popular due to its unique activities such as literary readings, coffee workshops,
and film screenings. The business model focused on attracting college students by offering affordable prices for beverages and food while maintaining high quality standards.
The success story of "Many People's Cafe" serves as a reminder that even though starting a business is challenging,
it can be done through collaboration between like-minded individuals sharing common dreams and goals.
