brothers then went to the land of Inaba, where they planned to marry off their sister, Ōyamatsumi-hime. They asked Dazaito to carry a bag filled with various items as they traveled.
When they arrived at the crossroads of Mizugaki, they encountered a naked rabbit crying pitifully on the ground. The brothers pretended to be concerned and advised the rabbit: "You poor creature! Go wash yourself in the sea and let your wounds dry in the wind." The rabbit followed their advice but ended up with its skin torn apart from drying too quickly. It continued to cry out in pain.
Just then, Dazaito appeared carrying his bag and asked the rabbit why it was crying. The rabbit explained that it had been planning to migrate from Yagyu Island to Inaba when a group of crocodiles suddenly appeared. To distract them, it challenged them into a competition over whose tribe was larger; however, just as it thought it had won, one last crocodile caught hold of its clothes and stripped them off completely. Afterward, Dazaito told him: "Now go rinse yourself clean in a river and lie down on some pampas grass for warmth." Following these instructions restored its fur back to normal.
The rabbits praised Dazaito for saving him from suffering further harm while his own brothers were unable even save themselves from danger through their own plans.
Dazaito's mother later discovered her son's fate after being informed by her husband that he had met an untimely death at his brother's hands due not only once but multiple times throughout history because she sought help from Takaokami no Kami who sent two goddesses named Himetataribe-no-Mikoto (Hime-tachi) who would ultimately become wife number three or four depending on interpretation – thus becoming known as Japan’s most powerful god ever created within Japanese mythology folklore literature texts – hence earning himself this title which has been passed down through generations until now
